newsletter

The Ballet Centre has had a very exciting and successful  30th Anniversary year.  Our main highlight was our show DREAMS COME TRUE staged at DUCTAC.  This really showcased the amazing talent of our students.  Hard work certainly does bring its rewards!  We are very proud of all our students who performed in this show.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students, parents and staff involved in making the show happen.  We are sure some dreams did come true!

ACHIEVEMENTS

The Ballet Centre has had a great year of Exams.

This year 275 students passed their RAD Ballet Exams with lovely results.  Our highest achiever scored a fantastic 87% for Grade 7 closely followed by several 85%s.  A VERY WELL DONE to all our students on their achievement, you should be very proud as we certainly are.

We have just recently had our ISTD Tap and Modern Exams and are sure these students will also achieve wonderful results.

Our PIANO students who have taken their TRINITY examinations this year have all passed with very high marks, our highest result being 91%.

TAEKWONDO students have had an amazing year.  Most students won medals at the 6th Dubai Championships held in December.  15 students took part in the Black Belt examinations held in May.  9 students received 1st degree and 6 students attained the 2nd degree.  Selected students will be taking part in the forthcoming Junior Taekwondo Championships held in ITALY this September.  Congratulations to all the Taekwondo students on their achievements this year.

Our IRISH dance classes have entered their 27th year with The Ballet Centre.  We had another successful year of examinations with lovely results.  Students have performed this year at the Irish Village on St. Patrick’s Day.  The senior students performed at the St. Patrick’s Day Ball.  Also performances have been shown at the Emirates Literary Festival, School fayres and International Days.  All in all a very busy and successful year for the Irish Dance students.

FREESTYLE DISCO & STREET DANCE have had a fantastic year.  Our students performed at the Silicon Oasis bazaar and the Dubai Education and Activities Fair at The Dubai Polo Club.  We are now looking forward to our showcase in November, we are so excited!

BRITISH OVERSEAS DRAMATIC ARTS – Soon our BODA 3 and BODA 11+ students will deliver their end of term performance. The exciting show will take place in a professional theatre, delivering the thrill of the stage to our young stars and the enjoyment of a professional theatre show to our invited audience.

Our BODA 14+ actors will also be staging the first performance of their theatre show ‘Hard to Swallow’ . The hard hitting show will then take to the road and our actors will perform the piece regularly over the remainder of the year at numerous venues across the UAE.

Our exam success continues and over 150 students sat their ‘Trinity College London’ gradings this term. As always, we anticipate that many our students will achieve the distinction of ‘Highest Gradein the UAE’ . We fully expect that our hardworking students will be awarded with fantastic results once again. Results out in June!

We will now offer Speech and Drama classes for children aged 6 – 8 years and Communication Skills classes for children aged 8 -11. Both classes will follow the London TCL syllabus and examinations will be available.

BODA is pleased to announce the opening of new classes at The Ballet Centre in Motor city. Classes will be on Thursday afternoons.
