THE BALLET CENTRE– Newsletter June 2016

The Ballet Centre has had a very exciting and successful  30th Anniversary year.  Our main highlight was our show DREAMS COME TRUE staged at DUCTAC.  This really showcased the amazing talent of our students.  Hard work certainly does bring its rewards!  We are very proud of all our students who performed in this show.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students, parents and staff involved in making the show happen.  We are sure some dreams did come true!

The Ballet Centre has had a great year of Exams.

This year 275 students passed their RAD Ballet Exams with lovely results.  Our highest achiever scored a fantastic 87% for Grade 7 closely followed by several 85%s.  A VERY WELL DONE to all our students on their achievement, you should be very proud as we certainly are.

We have just recently had our ISTD Tap and Modern Exams and are sure these students will also achieve wonderful results.

Our PIANO students who have taken their TRINITY examinations this year have all passed with very high marks, our highest result being 91%.

TAEKWONDO students have had an amazing year.  Most students won medals at the 6th Dubai Championships held in December.  15 students took part in the Black Belt examinations held in May.  9 students received 1st degree and 6 students attained the 2nd degree.  Selected students will be taking part in the forthcoming Junior Taekwondo Championships held in ITALY this September.  Congratulations to all the Taekwondo students on their achievements this year.

Our IRISH dance classes have entered their 27th year with The Ballet Centre.  We had another successful year of examinations with lovely results.  Students have performed this year at the Irish Village on St. Patrick’s Day.  The senior students performed at the St. Patrick’s Day Ball.  Also performances have been shown at the Emirates Literary Festival, School fayres and International Days.  All in all a very busy and successful year for the Irish Dance students.

FREESTYLE DISCO & STREET DANCE have had a fantastic year.  Our students performed at the Silicon Oasis bazaar and the Dubai Education and Activities Fair at The Dubai Polo Club.  We are now looking forward to our showcase in November, we are so excited!

BRITISH OVERSEAS DRAMATIC ARTS – Soon our BODA 3 and BODA 11+ students will deliver their end of term performance. The exciting show will take place in a professional theatre, delivering the thrill of the stage to our young stars and the enjoyment of a professional theatre show to our invited audience.

Our BODA 14+ actors will also be staging the first performance of their theatre show ‘Hard to Swallow’ . The hard hitting show will then take to the road and our actors will perform the piece regularly over the remainder of the year at numerous venues across the UAE.

Our exam success continues and over 150 students sat their ‘Trinity College London’ gradings this term. As always, we anticipate that many our students will achieve the distinction of ‘Highest Gradein the UAE’ . We fully expect that our hardworking students will be awarded with fantastic results once again. Results out in June!

We will now offer Speech and Drama classes for children aged 6 – 8 years and Communication Skills classes for children aged 8 -11. Both classes will follow the London TCL syllabus and examinations will be available.

BODA is pleased to announce the opening of new classes at The Ballet Centre in Motor city. Classes will be on Thursday afternoons.

Our senior students have had some experiences performing at Weddings, School Fairs and the Children’s Film Festival.  Each time they performed beautifully and were a credit to The Ballet Centre.

We have also been building up our Camps during the Spring and Summer vacation periods.

This summer to date we have BODA and the ART CLUB offering Camps.  For further details please contact Reception.

We are pleased to welcome Miss Tina Crane to the Ballet Centre.  Tina started her Dance training at The Ellis Ballet School, London.  She went on to graduate from the London Studio Centre with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in 2006.  After graduating she went on to perform internationally.  She received her Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Diploma in 2012.  Since then she has gained much teaching experience in London.

Also joining us is Louise Warren.  Louise danced professionally in London and Europe before starting a career in teaching dance.  She received her teaching diploma at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance and taught in the UK.  In addition to teaching Louise completed her BA(Hons) in Dance Education and recently her Masters in Education.  Louise is also registered as a mentor and teaching supervisor for the Royal Academy of Dance teaching programme.    Many of Louise’s past students have gone on to dance in professional dance companies or become teachers of ballet.  She is really excited to be joining the Ballet Centre.

It is with great excitement that we are pleased to announce that MissBecky is expecting a budding Ballerina.  We are so thrilled for her.  She will have a period of maternity leaveand then be back at the Ballet Centre.  We wish her all the very best.

We are pleased to say the Motor City Branch of the Ballet Centre is doing well with Ballet, Tap, Modern, Taekwondo, Piano and BODA drama available.

Thank you all very much for making this 30th Anniversary year such a successful and memorable one.  We look forward to another great year.  See you on September 3rd!
